Randy Lane was an integral part of my success as a collegiate gymnast. One of the biggest impacts was his unwavering optimism. Randy taught me what it really means to be a champion - facing adversity while maintaining a positive outlook on the future. I have always admired his authenticity, honesty, compassion and his ability to lift athletes up when they need it most. Randy’s support provided the foundation on which all of my accomplishments were built.

I have had the honor and privilege to work with Coach Randy for 6 years at UCLA. He has brought an energy into the gym that was irreplaceable and infectious. He always knew how to help improve myself as an athlete and individual by being observant and understanding my personality. Randy has helped me tremendously not only in the gym but post gymnastics with my entertainment career and I am forever thankful for him. He took it upon himself to help create new opportunities and introduce myself to high-profile individuals so that I would have a better chance in pursing my new passions and endeavors in entertainment. He has truly amazed me over the years especially at UCLA when it came to recruiting and keeping close relationships with the athletes. Since I was a veteran on the team, it is with my experienced knowledge that I am able to say that Randy genuinely wanted to help his athletes grow as a person. He has recruited many top athletes and continued to help them develop into strong individual women. He created opportunities for them to work while in school by recruiting them to coach at Bruin Gymnastics Academy. Many of these athletes respected and turned to Randy for life advice and guidance. He sincerely wanted to see his athletes thrive post gymnastics and I believe Randy will continue to create new opportunities and guide individuals to reach their goals outside of gymnastics.

Randy not only was my gymnastics coach at UCLA, he is so much more. He cared about me as a human first and did everything in his power to help me grow to become my best. He is adaptable, highly ethical, and a great mentor. He is solutions driven and a pleasure to be around! While I was on the UCLA gymnastics team, Randy worked diligently on recruiting throughout the entire year. Every time we had recruits visiting campus, he was involved with the whole process.

When I first got to UCLA it was hard for me to become adapted to a new environment and struggled to find my place on the team because I was injured. There were a few individuals who allowed me to see that I was a piece of the puzzle even if I wasn't a competitor and this ultimately gave me the confidence to come into my own person. Randy was one of those people. He stuck with me once I graduated and to this day we still have the same support for each other to strive to be the best we can be. He was not only my coach but a close friend as well. The thing that makes him such a positive light in my life is the fact that he takes the time to learn about who I was as a person and an individual and used that to help me become a better me. Once I graduated UCLA I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do and felt stuck trying to figure it out, he was there right by my side and help me through the process. Randy took the time to help me find a career that I would have never dreamed of and one that I love to my core. He has been dedicated in helping me on my path and has believed in me. I wouldn't be in the positive light that I am today if it wasn't for his support, kindness, and patience.

I had the privilege of being a gymnast of Randy's at UCLA and have gotten to coach alongside him over the past 25 years. I have witnessed his genuine care for his athlete's well-being in both situations. His integrity and expansive gymnastics knowledge make him the perfect liaison for any gymnast interested in college gymnastics.

During my years at UCLA, Randy was both a terrific coach and an incredible friend. He impacted my life in a tremendous way with his ever positive, happy, and fun attitude. His coaching style promoted an environment in which I enjoyed training and was able to gain the confidence in myself and my skills so that I could compete successfully. Randy supported me in gymnastics as well as beyond it, for which I am forever grateful.

“Randy helped me build my confidence on every event. Not only is Randy a great coach technically, but he’s absolutely amazing charismatically. He is an extraordinary human being, and he always connected with me and my teammates on a personal level. He made sure to take the time to see what each of us needed in order to achieve greatness. Since I have graduated from UCLA and retired from gymnastics, Randy has been an amazing friend and mentor to me and many others. His hard work, dedication, and leadership qualities continue to be an inspiration to me and so many others that have had the wonderful opportunity of working with him.”

October 7th, 2008, a day I will never forget. Randy went out of his way, across borders, overseas to find that small hidden talent he was looking for. This one event depicts how Randy approaches many of his missions: conscious, without fear, with the fullest of enthusiasm.  Little did I know that although I did not go to the college Randy was coaching at (MSU), Randy would still impact my life. I had the fortune of being coached by him (UCLA), a funny, dedicated, and very smart human being, who could level with whomever he came across. Even when I was long out of college, I could count on Randy helping me in any way he could. When a Dutch basketball hopeful contacted me for information about NCAA, I knew immediately who to call for help. Within his network he will find those people needed to bump up any process  to the next level.
